Some of it works and most doesn't. ;)

Color: According to this website if you have a white hydrangea it cannot be changed by the grower. Interesting little fact that I did not know. I thought you could change all the colors from white to red. Apparently not -according to that website. And those in the south can count on not ever having a true red hydrangea. boo.
Pink and blue hydrangea can, however, be changed by adding and deleting different minerals to the soil.
More on color
http://www.hydrangeashydrangeas.com/colorchange.html

Pruing: Depending on your variety of hydrangea is when and how you prune. Mopheads never really need pruning except dead wood or dead heading which can be done anytime. Now, I know this...

Otherwise, I would check this link before you prune.
http://www.hydrangeashydrangeas.com/pruning.htmlThe Buntenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15621963894614154802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6551221718418406610.post-72289612247142581852009-09-01T17:09:58.665-04:002009-09-01T17:09:58.665-04:00I have a brown thumb...which is why we have landsc...I have a brown thumb...which is why we have landscapers and no blooming plants in front of our house!Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04144625781609192815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6551221718418406610.post-20454735504221845732009-09-01T15:10:18.203-04:002009-09-01T15:10:18.203-04:00So when are you supposed to cut back? Most of the time it is due to pruning back too heavy. I have only one type I can seem to grow, the rest d not. This has to do with soil Ph, only white and no fun colors. Oh well, have to look at other plants to subsidize me!happyathomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18407717538535660812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6551221718418406610.post-52444129787109600662009-09-01T14:16:03.368-04:002009-09-01T14:16:03.368-04:00There really is a website for everything! There really is a website for everything! The Mommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10453909200424907737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6551221718418406610.post-85466014199048241692009-09-01T13:15:53.405-04:002009-09-01T13:15:53.405-04:00yeah - my plants look like that too!yeah - my plants look like that too!Melissa Angert {All Things Chic}https://www.blogger.com/profile/02966938610239372447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6551221718418406610.post-15135524523277173642009-09-01T11:29:23.789-04:002009-09-01T11:29:23.789-04:00Oh man!!
