You are not invisible in your car.

An open newsflash to all people driving.

You are not invisible in your cars.

Specifically to you, a fellow mom who works at my daughter's school sometimes.

I am really sorry that I was not moving fast enough for you this morning. I was in deep conversation with my 8 year old about her displeasure over missing the bus and having to be in carpool at all. I was also trying to consume my first cup of coffee for the morning and probably should not have even been legally driving.

Anyway, you seemed to be in a hurry and I was trying to be nice even though I had the right of way. You apparently were very upset with me. I hope your child had some earphones on or something. Mine got a huge kick out of your hand gestures.

I hope your day is much better. Really, I do. See ya' around school!

*********
Now before you go thinking I don't get upset while driving, let me assure you - I do. I hate that I do, but some days when I am in a hurry and the cars are not driving like I think they should I get upset. But I try to remember something that happened to me a long time ago. It usually fixes my attitude.

When I was in high school, I was driving to school one morning and this lady cut me off. I proceeded to yell something at her and make a not so nice hand gesture. I was a teenager after all.

So, in one of my classes later that day the teacher came up to me and whispered in my ear that she was really sorry about the traffic incident that morning. Apparently, she was the woman that cut me off. Nothing like needing to improve your algebra grade and giving your teacher the bird instead.

So, the lesson - you just never know.

OMGoodness..... I guess that lesson really stuck with you! I think that lady this morning must not have had her coffee yet! :)

Karma. I always keep that in the back of my mind. You never know when you'll run into that person again and in what kind of situation.

That lesson is SOOO true. I also learned it early on in my driving carreer (though not with a teacher.... thank God!).
Who did you have for Algebra???

OH Janel! This post makes me feel so much better.

My freshman year of college I was a youth leader at our church.

I too gave the Bird to some guy who kept speeding after me.

Turns out it was the Youth Director from church. He was just trying to get my attention to wave hello.

Oh my! That would have been horrible!

Maybe the mom was just having a really, really, really bad day? Driving brings out the best in us, doesn't it? :)

Oh that's awful. Bet you just melted right into your seat.

I'm shocked at the way some people behave on the road these days. I've never before seen so many grannies flipping the bird. Not necessarily at me, but sometimes, yes, at me. I'm thinking everyone needs to just calm down...

I got the good ol hand jester yesterday. I was coming onto the interstate and the car beside me wouldn't move over (I can't stand when they don't do that) and I had no where else to go so she sped up and I got behind her while she was waving the bad finger at me she got stuck behind a slow moving car I got in teh next lane and got up beside her and just smiled and waved at her.

I hope she was just having a terrible day! I try to pay attention to what I am showing my kids when I get impatient in the car. Thanks for the reminder!
