What I Learned This Week - Puppy Love

I learned this week or shall I say that I remembered this week that puppies are a lot of work.

Puppies play a lot. Puppies eat a lot. Puppies go potty a lot - in the house.

Puppies sleep a lot.Puppies have scrunchy cute noses, big floppy paws, soft ears and round fat bellies.

I learned that my lap has room for another dog.

But more importantly that my heart has room
for another dog.

Meet Elmo. He is a sweet little boy. Very fun, playful but submissive and sooooo sweet. Oh, I already said sweet didn't I? He is sweet and so so cute.

He is actually part Chihuahua, part Dachshund and part Jack Russell. The dog can jump about a foot off the ground with all four feet. It's pretty funny actually. He is training pretty quickly which is a huge blessing.

We are having some issues adjusting with Buddy. My sweet 10 year old Maltese baby is not loving the new dog. Below is a picture of him hiding in his crate which happens several times a day. Elmo wants to play and pounces on Buddy. Buddy growls and runs away. It's not the friendship I hoped for. Hopefully, in time they will work it out. Buddy did let him lay in my lap with him but I think it was just because he was so tired from being chased all day.
Any new puppy tips? I'll take all ya' got! Especially the ones on how to encourage these little guys to get along.

He is very cute. Buddy will adjust in time and probably put Elmo in his place.
tips? lots of praise and treats when he is successful in going potty. We trained Lily to ring a bell on the back door when she wants to go out. Crate him when you cant watch him all the time or he will go all over the place.
Have fun!

Aww, maybe he and Chaz will get along - he is dachshund/chihuahua too! I feel for ya, it's not easy adjusting your life around training a dog! Well, you know how it happened for me! :)

What a cute puppy! I'm guessing he won't get any bigger? I'm sure Buddy will be teaching Elmo a thing or two about who's boss.

Congrats! He is soooo cute! I love puppies. It's a good thing my husband is so realistic or we would have more than the two dogs that we do! Elmo and Buddy will get to be great friends I'm sure.

Awwww, how adorable is he?! When we were were housetraining our dogs, we were living in a house with all hardwood floors--it made it much easier to clean up all the messes!

No ideas on puppies at all (I have discovered I am a cat person - much to my surprise!)

Adorable puppy.

So adorable. We have a Chiuaua/Daschund/Corgi. (Okay, my spelling is horrible.)
Your pupply looks so much like mine when she was little. I'll have to find pics.
Oh, I wish they could stay puppies forever. So fun.

Oh Janel!

Elmo is so sweet. My kids are both oo-ing an ahhh-ing over my shoulder!

I feel you puppy pain! And I don't really have any advice, but I just wanted to say congrats!

So dang cute! With a face like that I'm guessing the playing, the chewing, and the potty have been worth it. :)
