Mom, if God...?

Question from my 4 (almost 5) year old son yesterday. We were looking at a book of bible stories and He asked,

"Mom, are we happy that Jesus died on the cross?"

Well my friends...what would you say to a 4 (almost 5) year old? I mean, how do you explain what you know about this to a child?

Kinda reminds me of the one my daughter presented at that age. One day after a preschool lesson on how God created the world and everything in it, she asked,

"Mom, if God created everything, then did he create evil?"

Are they getting smarter or is it just me????? You gotta be on your toes with these kids.

In my opinion kids do it on purpose just to test us (much like when they do something they aren't supposed to) any answer is probably an ok answer, they just want to see your reaction! The god questions are extra hard though because you don't want to scew a vision or belief. Good luck mom!

I had to explain that to ava the other day. She had her little bible out and I asked her why do we celebrate easter, she said JESUS.

I said yes, Jesus died, and she got this upset look, I took her in my arms and told her it was okay, Jesus wanted to die for us so we could live and have this great love in us for him and he rose from the grave ( I had to reiterate THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY ONE who can rise from the dead )

She was still kind of upset and reassured her that JESUS was fine with it

then the next day at dinner she brought up death, we explained to her that everyone dies and that one day we will but when we do we will see each other again in heaven.

It's hard but im glad they trust me enough to ask me

sorry this is a long comment
