Small Groups

I am heading to Chicago later this week! I am very excited! Not only will I have a break from being mommy and wifey for a few days, but I will be visiting Willow Creek Community Church for their Group Life 2008 Conference.

Not that I don't love being mommy and wifey. It just kicks my bahooty some times and a break is good. A break where I am doing something else. Something where my brain is really involved and working. Not that it doesn't work being a mom and wife. Okay, you get my point.

So, I am excited to see Willow for real. I've heard it is amazing. AND I am pumped to learn more about small groups.

Do people use that word pumped anymore when they are not actually talking about getting gas?

Anyway, I took this position at church a few months back to coach about 8 women's small groups. I love it! It is fun, it is inspiring and some days it is hard.

Most of the time it is not and I really just press into God to help me lead and encourage them, but some days, I find I just need some renewed practical direction. That is what I am hoping to get from this conference.

So, how about you? Are you in a small group, bible study, book club or other group that provides you with support? I would love to hear what you love about it.

Hi Janel. Lucky you! Have fun, and please share some of your knowledge when you return. Being in women's ministry in my own church, I would love to hear what they have to say.

As for what I love myself..I think it's twofold. First I love the fellowship. A place to let my hair down with other sisters in Christ and be real. The being real part is really important, I think. The second is studying the Word of God with fellow sisters. I love nothing better than hearing how God can use the exact same verse of scripture to say something DIFFERENT to two, five, or even ten women! He is AMAZING, and His Word rocks!

Have a wonderful trip, and I hope you come back refreshed and energized!

Love and Blessings,
Dawn

I am in a small group Bible study and a book club. I love the fellowship with other women. I love the fact that my Bible study girls come from completely different places in our lives, yet we have a bond that it indescribable. They are some of my very favorite people! I love to see how God works in their lives. I love praying for them and knowing that they are praying for me.

Hope your trip is great!
